Welcome to the Canid Cafe!To those who have come here through Twitter, welcome and thanks for letting me know people actually look at my might as well be dead account. If you got here through another means, congratulations, please don't hurt me. Anyways, hello, my name is Kaihn. I am a 24 year old dude who likes technology, programming, hiking, biking, 3D printing, VR, digital art, PC gaming, coffee, and horror. Up until now, I'd like to think I have lived an okay life, apart from me being socially inept. I unfortunately still live and have grown up in a dead-end town in Northeast Ohio. |

I currently work for a well-known manufacturing company as a Production Worker. I basically make, edit, and pack mostly underground gas line parts. The laughable thing is that I have both my Associates and Bachelor's in IT from a well-known college in the area and the experience to back it up. My previous job was doing contract IT work for another big company that worked in chemicals. I loved it, but there were a couple issues. My department basically dissolved one by one (retirement, mental health leave, etc...) leaving me to handle a lot of work that I frankly did not have the time or experience to complete, I was doing the work of at least 7 different departments, the site I worked on happened to be headquarters and I was basically AV/meeting management for all the higher ups (president and all, imagine the initial stress of it, you learn really quickly that upper management tend to act like children though), the commute took almost two hours of my day, and I was making less than I currently am at a manufacturing position. I shouldn't have to tell you that even helpdesk should be making more than manufacturing, at least for employees who are new or not tenured, but C'est la vie. Apart from the contract job, I have also worked as an IT intern for a big hotel chain, and as a zipline tour guide for the same company.
Outside of work I spend most my time on my computer gaming, listening to music, drawing, and the like. I currently play a VR game called Beat Saber the most. There is a ranked system that has steadily gone downhill IMO (tech is garbage mapping - Aimedhades my beloved - speed > acc) and I peaked in the low top 700 globally [insert dynamic rank]. I still enjoy the exercise and have been focusing on accuracy maps. Honestly, a lot more fun ignoring ranked, especially when you widen the skill gap between yourself and people ahead of you. Other all-time favorite games of mine are any of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles (Fallout 3 was the best), Halo Reach was pretty epic, the Dead Space series was fun, Bioshock 1 and 2 (I don't consider Infinite a Bioshock game apart from the story) were phenomenal, the most recent Prey by Bethesda and Arkane was nice, and NieR:Automata was an overall great experience.
In terms of music that I listen to, I am a complete mess and probably have Beat Saber to blame. I don't think a lot of people can say that their favorite genres are Alternative Rock and Japanese Death metal. As long as you don't make me listen to new age rap or country, we are all good (oddly enough I am okay with Bluegrass). Current favorite bands include:
While not good at it, I also enjoy drawing when I do find time and am in the mindset for it. If you couldn't already tell with the site name, alias, and imagery, I am a furry and the art was a really big inspiration for my introduction into the fandom. Insert joke about how all tech jobs inevitably lead to becoming a furry. I got to experience my first con at the end of last year out in Rosemont, Illinois (MFF 2021) with a close friend at the time. Probably one of the greatest experiences I have had, and I hope to do it again someday, but unfortunately not this year. Oddly enough I still don't have a set design for my sona, but I am slowly getting there. I hope to eventually have more time and commitment to improve my art.
When I am not on my computer, I enjoy hiking and biking. Unfortunately, while Ohio does have plenty of parks and trails, none of them are nearby or compare to the extremity of the kind of trails I like. I love a lot of the trails out in the Smoky Mountains and the Adirondacks and find long, strenuous treks up a mountain far more enjoyable than a 2-mile flat loop hike with the same scenery I have seen all my life. My longest hikes have been up to Mt LeConte, and I plan to eventually hike all 6 of the trailheads leading to it (I have already done Trillium Gap and Rainbow Falls). It is likely just a pipedream at this point, but I would still like to one day hike the entirety of the Appalachian Trail in one go.
As I mentioned earlier, trails around me are usually a ways away, and so I generally just bike around in my area. I live not even five minutes from Lake Erie, and biking the area is relatively pleasant. I only wish I lived closer to some woody trails, since I think mountain biking would be much more fun.
That about sums me up, or at least what I am willing to share for the moment. If you want to contact or reach out to me for any reason, my contact info/social media is below. Be aware I rarely post anything as a result of my being socially inept.
